Flexible Packaging

How to produce “on demand” flexible packaging.

The global flexible packaging market is one of the fastest growing segments of the packaging industry, with a predicted value of 250 billion USD by 2024.

Flexible packaging can be suitable for a wide range of products such as cosmetics, food, drinks, supplements, and cleaning products. Bags and pouches can be a more economical packaging choice and a more sustainable packaging option with eco aware consumers looking to move away from products packed in single use plastics.

Until recently it’s not been commercially viable for small to medium brands to consider printing their own flexible material rolls due to the printers being very large Flexo Presses, with a hefty price tag and the requirement for an experienced print operative. This leaves outsourcing as the only option.

Outsourcing flexible packaging printing presents challenges with long lead times, excessive waste and limited ability for customisation or variable field data.

Afinia have identified a gap in the market and have introduced the FP-230, priced at a more affordable £15,500 + vat.

The FP-230 utilises the L901 Plus printer to produce vibrant, full colour prints on roll widths of up to 230mm wide. Variable data and colour matching can be handled with the additional option of the Northstar RIP.
